Fire Station 39

Fire Station 39 located in Lake City, just north of Seattle.  An integral addition to the Lake City Civic Core, this station sits on 28th Avenue which has been designated a “Green Street” which will include walking and bicycle pathways, street trees and improved lighting.

The new 11,200 sf Fire Station replaces the existing 1949, 3,200 sf station.  Fire Station 39 serves the existing fire engine company which consists of one engine and one reserve engine.  The new station also includes an enclosed yard and second floor terrace to provide respite following emergency response activities.  These areas are situated adjacent to the Beanery, Day Room and Training Room.  An artist from California designed the a galvanized metal structure which receives stormwater runoff from the roof and transports it to a large cistern below-grade.  This cistern has the capacity to store over 7,000 gallons of rainwater which are used to flush the toilets in the building.
