LAX Sheraton Ballroom Expansion
This project involved the major demolition of an existing ballroom, including the removal of structural columns. Two structural steel trusses were installed in order to create the new, more spacious 15,000 sf ballroom. Exterior precast panels were installed at the enlarged ballroom corridor. The main ballroom construction was completed in 10 days after the removal of both steel columns. 50 workmen worked in shifts for 24 hours to meet that deadline. Extra effort from the team made it possible to achieve an almost impossible schedule. John Feroldi, the client, wrote an “e-mail of recommendation” saying: “The performance, commitment and dedication shown by Doug, Kevin and your company in actually producing the completion of the interior of the ballroom on time for the hotel’s events is greatly appreciated and applauded by all. Although there were some that did not believe it would happen and still refer to it as a miracle, the bottom line was team and hard work. On behalf of the Sheraton Gateway LAX and the KOR Hotel Group, I want to extend a Thank You!”
