Lower Columbia College Rose Center for the Arts
The Rose Center for the Arts provides a new focal point to the Lower Columbia College campus entrance. This 55,000 sf public project features a 500-seat auditorium, multi-functional classrooms, a thrust theater, lecture hall, conference rooms, an art gallery, music practice rooms, scene shop, drama rehearsal rooms and administrative space. The two-floor building is constructed with CMU and structural steel and the exterior features brick veneer, curtainwall and metal panels with cedar accents. The Center was a project that was faced with early budget challenges. The project team identified nearly $600,000 in value engineering options, one of which was to change the dry joint metal panel system to a wet joint system resulting in $39,400 of savings.
