OIT Village for Sustainable Living

Completed on the busy and thriving OIT campus, these three student housing facilities total 92,418 sf and offer year-round living for students. Each of the 3-story, wood-framed buildings contain 69 living units with 264 total bedrooms offered in a variety of two, three, four and five bedroom layouts. Each unit has two full baths, a kitchen and living room area.

Sustainable work features include heating and cooling provided via a seasonal hydraulic system. In addition, a local geothermal well provides the hot water for both building heat and domestic hot water and site snowmelt. The building façades include hardboard siding, vinyl windows and asphalt shingle roofing.

According to David Ebsen, Director of Facilities for OIT, Howard S. Wright was instrumental in bringing the project into budget, through intensive value engineering sessions, allowing the project to start on schedule and complete within the desired timeframe.
