PSU Lincoln Hall Seismic and Systems Upgrade

Lincoln Hall, a nearly 100-year old campus treasure and the first building occupied by PSU in the South Park Blocks, is now home to the PSU Center for Performing Arts. Components of this major renovation project included seismic improvements, a new roof and exterior improvements, and MEP and life safety system retrofits. The renovated building will have a smaller carbon footprint and more functional space.

A new air handler, which utilizes a heat wheel for heat recovery and a higher energy efficient mechanical system, are now utilized for the entire building. This new highly efficient mechanical design allowed the old inefficient air handler to be removed from an interior room that was then transformed into a new classroom.

The building contains solar panels designed to provide two percent of the electricity needs for the entire building as well as a completely new mechanical, electrical and hydronic heating and cooling system going from a 1911 technology to a state-of-the-art energy efficient system. 324 windows were replaced with new high performance windows with low ā€œeā€ insulated glass, which provide abundance of natural light throughout the building.
