Royal Palms Hotel Renovation
Our team’s goal was to build a full service luxury spa that blended well with the rest of the Mediterranean-style resort originally built in 1929. We used wood frame construction accented with antique timbers recovered from an old barn; the open truss ceiling adds to the spa’s rustic charm. Ultimately a success, the spa building now includes: seven private treatment rooms, each with full plumbing and doors that open onto the courtyards; a “rock room” salon with simulated river rock walls and floors; a whirlpool and watsu pool area; and a lounge and reception area. The resort remained fully operational during construction.
We later returned to the Royal Palms and completed a 45,000 sf renovation which included a new villa, courtyard and fountain. We renovated 70 rooms and equipped 14 rooms with large, deep soaking tubs, built six spa suites and six ADA accessible suites. We also installed a new elevator and re-stripped the parking lot. This project was completed on a five month accelerated schedule with extremely limited accessibility to the site.
