The Jeffrey

At 55,000 sf, the Jeffrey provides 80 units of residential housing. The main floor houses areas for resident interaction and common rooms as well as outdoor plazas. Floors two through six of this wood-frame structure contain 50 studio and 30 one-bedroom apartments. The first floor also houses the Outside-In Headquarters, a non-profit organization that offers stabilization services for youth who are living on the streets.

Energy saving strategies included the creation of a high-performance building envelope, energy-efficient lighting, ample daylighting, heat recovery ventilators for replacement air in all common areas, reduced hot water use and a high-efficiency, gearless traction elevator. Low flow fixtures that go beyond Energy Act requirements and front-loading washing machines reduce water use by a third. The design incorporated envelope, HVAC system and lighting upgrades that reduce energy consumption. The Jeffrey received LEED Silver certification.
