U.S. Navy Bachelor Enlisted Quarters – P-283 & P-297

Howard S Wright completed two projects for the U.S. Navy:  Bachelor Enlisted Quarters P-283, 168,000 sf and Bachelor Enlisted Quarters P-297, 175,000 sf.

BEQ P-283:  This 14-level structure consists of a 12-story, 83,000 sf housing tower and a two level, 85,000 sf underground parking garage.  The housing tower includes 196 living quarters, central offices, meeting rooms, a recreation room, and fitness, kitchen, dining, and laundry facilities.  By partnering with the client and the BEQ manager, the project team proposed several value engineering ideas that resulted in significant savings for the client.

BEQ P-297:  HSW was challenged by the United States Navy to add value to the Bachelor Enlisted Quarters P-297 housing project—and that is just what the project team did.  The team was able to redesign the parking garage, while maintaining high quality specifications, and recommend alternate building materials.  The US Navy realized a substantial cost savings and was able to move into the new barracks six weeks early.  This 6-story BEQ project consisted of a 4-story, steel framed 90,000 sf military housing tower and a 2-story, cast-in-place concrete, post-tensioned, 85,000 sf underground parking garage.  The housing tower includes 167 separate residence quarters, a mess hall/dining facilities and meeting rooms.
