WestWorld Equidome – Tony Nelssen Expansion Project
Howard S. Wright recently gained a big win as the selection of CMAR for the WestWorld Equidome/Tony Nelssen Expansion Project in Scottsdale, Arizona. The project entails a renovation of the existing 100,000 sf Equidome Center, along with an expansion that adds 152,000 sf of show arenas and exhibit space. Preliminary concepts include the additions of VIP Suites, new restroom facilities, a new Paddock staging area and a Central Plant to enable climate control of the entire renovated and expanded facility. Preliminary budget estimates tag the cost of the construction at $30 million. This active equestrian center currently includes horse arenas, multi-use tent structures and event spaces that are used throughout the event season of September through May. Extending the use of the facility to attract year round events is the ultimate goal of the new climate controlled facility.
Working side by side with world renowned Equestrian Architect, Populous, along with the City of Scottsdale and WestWorld Operations, Howard S. Wright will assist in the development of the design and construction of this new world class facility. Primary construction activities will be sequenced around the Equestrian Event Show Season of 2012/2103, a critical element in the success of the project. Howard S. Wright will also provide preconstruction and sitework services. Sustainable techniques will be utilized in order to achieve LEED Gold certification for the facility.
